I became a counselor to make a positive difference. I’m honored to work with survivors and fascinated by their strength of will, but I’m also immensely satisfied when the disturbance level of their trauma is lowered with therapy.
I begin with Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. It helps resolve trauma by acknowledging the different parts of your inner self, listening to each part’s pain and creating a safe space within to unify your vulnerabilities and strength. My experience as a therapist has been that IFS can and does heal the burdens we carry.
Another therapy method is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which has a triggering effect but may be helpful for single-trauma victims with PTSD. Using the five senses, EMDR digs deep and brings out feelings and physical symptoms. The body holds trauma, but I can help you and your body let it go.
